About Pong

Pong was one of the earliest arcade video games, originally released by Atari in 1972. It simulates table tennis with simple two-dimensional graphics. The game was the first commercially successful video game, leading to the start of the video game industry. Designed by Allan Alcorn as a training exercise assigned by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell, Pong became an unexpected cultural phenomenon that proved video games could be a viable business.

The original arcade cabinet was tested at a bar called Andy Capp's Tavern in Sunnyvale, California. Within days, the machine was so popular that it broke down from overuse because the coin mechanism jammed from too many quarters. Atari went on to sell over 19,000 Pong arcade units, and the home console version became one of the best-selling products of the 1975 holiday season.

Our browser version stays true to the original while adding modern touches like glowing paddles, smooth animations, and three AI difficulty levels. The Easy mode is forgiving for newcomers, while Hard mode features an AI opponent with faster reflexes and better ball prediction. First player to reach 11 points wins the match. Play on any device with keyboard, mouse, or touch controls.
